Congratulations to Mark A. Foster for his recent catch.
SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A state record blue catfish was caught recently from the Ohio River, according to Frank Jezioro, Director of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.

The record blue catfish was caught by Mark A. Foster of St. Albans, West Virginia. Foster caught the 43.9-inch, 44.5-pound fish from the Ohio River while using cut bait.

Foster’s catch establishes a new West Virginia record for length and weight. His catch breaks his own 2011 record catch of a 32.28-pound blue catfish.

The previous length record was a 42.25-inch blue catfish caught by Lynn Lange in 2009.

However we know that there is bigger fish to be caught from the ohio river along the West Virginia Borders. Steve Douglas from Bardstown Ky caught a 47 inch blue catfish while pre-fishing the Ohio River for a Cabelas King Kat tournament in may of 2012 close to Gallipois OH.

Although Steve and wife Lisa was able to get this huge catch on video, this fish was not eligable for the state record because the wrong fishing licence was purchased. SEE VIDEO BELOW.
