Taking first place was the team of Carl Morris Jr of Johnstown, Ohio and Sean Martin of Blacklick, Ohio with a total weight of 114.35 pounds and earning $4,300.00. Carl and Sean were fishing below the riverbend in 40-45 feet of water using skipjack heads. The team caught over 20 nice fish for the day including big fish of the event which weighed in at 29.95 pounds, earning the team an additional $500.00.Along with all the other accomplishments for the day their first place victory gave the team enough points to climb into 1st place in the points race. Carl and Sean will also receive $200.00 for the Monster Rod Holder Bonus Money. Monster Rod holders rewards their customers for a first place win in the king kat events for using their products.

In second place was the Ranger, Georgia team of Lonnie Fountain and David Bruce weighing in 98.95 pounds and earning $2,000.00. Lonnie and David were fishing near Bluff Creek using skipjack in 55-60 feet of water to catch 25-30 fish for the day.

Third place went to the Phenix City, Alabama team of Raymond Wrensch and Anthony Stanfill with a weight of 26.85 and earning a check for $1,000.00. Raymond and Anthony were fishing north of River Bend in 30 feet of water using skipjack to catch 50 fish for the day.

Monty Hill and Andrew Cable of Covington, Georgia took fourth place with a weight of 26.25 pounds earning $700.00. Monty and Andrew were fishing near River Bend in 20-35 feet of water using cut bait to catch 15 fish for the day.

Fifth place went to Tim Owenby of Phenix City, Alabama and Daniel Miller of Columbus, Georgia with a weight of 23.4 pound and earning $500.00. Tim and Daniel were fishing near Bluff Creek using skipjack in 35-45 feet of water to catch 6 fish for the day.
