March 17, 2012, the STCA hosted it’s inaugural Youth Catfish Tournament. The tournament was open to any child age 2-16, it was free, to include a free cookout after the tournament.

There were two divisions, Bank anglers and Boat anglers, with three age groups in each division, 2-6, 7-10, and 11-16. Sixty-one children participated, representing each division and age group.

Hunter Sanchez, winner of the Bank Division, 2-6 year old group was the only bank angler to bring in a fish, so Hunters 2.08 pound channel cat won him a framed winners certificate, and a tackle box full of fishing gear. Congratulations Hunter!

First place for the 2-6 year old boaters division went to Nathan Castillo who stringer weighed 5.86 pounds, congratulations Nathan! Nathan won a framed certificate and a tackle box full of gear.

First Place for the 7-10 year old boaters division went to Jordan Strickland with a stringer weighing 5.9 pounds. Jordan was unable to stick around for the awards presentation and will be receiving a framed certificate, and a tackle box filled with tackle.

First Place for the 11-16 year old boaters division went to Klayton Morris, with the biggest stringer of the day, 8.06 pounds. Klayton won a framed certificate and a tackle box full of gear, congratulations Klayton!

Congratulations to all the children that came out and participated, and thank you to the parents that took the time to bring the kids out.
